Lilongwe Teachers Training College (LTTC) is one of the oldest Teacher Training Colleges in Malawi that was established in 1945 as a Government institution. LTTC was initially known as The Government Teacher Training Centre. It was moved in 1947 from its original location in Zomba to its present location in Lilongwe (Area 25). This happened as a result of the transfer of the then colonial capital from Zomba to Lilongwe in 1947. The college was then converted into a full-fledged teachers training institution that was known as the Government Teacher Training College (GTTC).
Since its inception in 1945, LTTC has undergone a number of name changes and reforms. In 1956, the name GTTC was changed to Lilongwe Teachers Training College (LTTC). In 1973, it was changed to Malawi College of Education (MCE). Later, in 1980, it was again changed to Malawi National College of Education (MNCE). In 1992, the name was again changed to the Lilongwe Teachers Training College (LTTC).
LTTC is a secondary school for the training of qualified teachers and provides a variety of courses to students. These courses includes diploma in Primary School Education, Degree in Primary Education, Post-Graduate Diploma in Primary School Education and a Certificate in Primary School Education.
