Grossmünster is a Romanesque-style Protestant church, located in Zurich, Switzerland. It is one of the four major churches of the city, along with Fraumünster, St. Peter and St. Jakob. The church was built in the 1100s on the site of a Carolingian church from around 800. It was the main home of regular church services for Zwinglianism, the Zurich Reformation of Huldrych Zwingli.The Grossmünster was built from around 1180–1220. The interior was changed to a late Baroque style in 1705–1706 by architects Bartholomäus and Christoph Kaufmann. During the Reformation of Huldrych Zwingli in the 1520s, the church was stripped of its art and imagery, although the murals of Heinz Schiess (completed in 1942 and 1944) still remain.
