Galion is a city in Crawford and Richland counties in the U.S. state of Ohio. The population was 10,512 at the 2010 census. It is the principal city of a Micropolitan Statistical Area known as the Galion-Crestline, which includes all of Crawford and Morrow counties in Ohio.The area was first settled in 1809 by William Malin who was influenced by the opening of Fort McArthur and the War of 1812. Malin platted the village of Galion in 1831 and the village became incorporated in 1855.
