Horror Story of Vana-Vigala Manor, Vana-Vigala
, Estonia
It was a bright summer’s day when I arrived in Vana-Vigala, Estonia, but the shadows that hung over the manor seemed to hint at something darker lurking within its walls.
The local folk served me their traditional dishes of pickled eggs and smoked fish, but were reluctant to speak of the fate of the former owners of the manor, the van Vigala family. The only thing anyone would tell me was that the family had disappeared overnight some fifty years ago, and no one had seen nor heard from them since.
I didn’t understand why no one wanted to talk about the mystery of the van Vigala family, until I was standing before the decrepit remains of the manor. As I crossed the threshold I felt a chill run through my body, and from that moment forward my every nerve was filled with an unbearable sense of dread and foreboding.
Once inside, I was amazed by the little mysteries the house held. Everywhere I looked there were signs of recent occupation by an unseen presence. Chairs had been moved around, windows opened and shut, and dishes and glasses were laid out on the tables as if a party had just ended.
Through a narrow hallway, I finally made my way to the grand hall where I found the van Vigala family, still seated in their ornate thrones. The corpses were mummified, and each had a sinister smile frozen on their face.
Fear consuming me, I frantically ran for the exit, not stopping until I reached the village. After that night, I have never returned to Vana-Vigala Manor, and today, if you dare visit the place, you can still feel the lingering presence of the van Vigala family, still waiting for a new audience to relive the atrocities that caused their untimely demise. This place is part of the top 10 most haunted places in the world.
