This place is registered as the most haunted place in the world. History & Information of Hrad Bouzov
Hrad Bouzov ([Bouzov Castle]) is a Gothic castle located in Moravia, Czech Republic. It was built in the 13th century by the Přemyslid dynasty on a strategic trade route between Moravia and Bohemia. Construction and rebuilding of the castle lasted until the late 15th century and resulted in a fortress with two sections - the lower castle and the upper castle. The lower castle was used for military purposes and had concentric defense walls and a unique plastered well. The upper castle served as a noble residence with a chapel and living quarters.
The castle remained in the hands of the Přemyslids until 1306 when it passed to the Archbishopric of Olomouc. The castle was leased to various families throughout its history until it was bought by the family of Sternberg in 1602. The family turned the castle into a Gothic-Renaissance style residence, which remains largely intact. It was fortified in the 16th century with a deep moat, thick walls, and three gates.
In 1846, the castle was bought by the rich businessman Jan Popper, who refurbished the chapel and held lavish feasts there. During World War II, the castle became a Gestapo prison and many prisoners were tortured and killed there. After the war, the castle was restored and declared a national cultural heritage monument in 1962. Today, it is open to the public and serves as a tourist attraction, restaurant, and lodging. The castle is famous for its unique architecture and well-preserved Renaissance and Gothic elements.
