The legend of Lady White Snake dates centuries back in the history of Hangzhou’s West Lake. As the lagoon’s light fades to dusk, locals whisper of a white figure walking the lake's shore.
Some say, this figure is none other than Lady White Snake. The tale speaks of a beautiful woman who, many centuries ago, had been cursed by an evil Taoist priest and forced to transform into an enormous white serpent living deep in the lake.
At night they say, Lady White Snake appears on the lake's shore, searching for her long lost, true love. Her body glides through the water, illuminated by eerie green light emanating from her eyes.
Coming upon a passerby, Lady White Snake envelops her in her massive coils, trapping them in this dark and murky lake. Stricken with fear, the passerby can do nothing else but wait for the morning sun to break and the beast to dissipate, while hoping they may never be found here again.
