The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) was established by the Federal Government of Nigeria in 1988 by Decree No. 48 of the Federal Military Government. The University began full academic activities beginning from the 1992/1993 academic year.FUNAAB is Nigeria’s first specialized university and an offshoot of the Regional Universities of the former Federal University System. Before the Funaab was established, the now defunct University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU) operated a College of Technology, Abeokuta as its sub-campuses.
