Many countries have temporarily closed their borders to tourism in an effort to protect their citizens and the world in response to COVID-19. Insignificant trips, tours, and vacations were canceled or drastically postponed in 2021. Now everyone is waiting inside, peeking out and thinking about when the world will reopen. Travel restrictions around the world do not only hit people with travel errors hard. Many economies rely heavily on tourism. Without tourists, many struggles to make a living. The coronavirus pandemic is still going on, but the first signs of improvement are here. Many countries are still closed to foreign travelers, but some are starting to reopen their borders. In most cases, land borders remain closed, although air travel is allowed. See below for a regularly updated list of countries that are welcoming tourists:

1. Seychelles
The beautiful jawed archipelago off the coast of Africa has reluctantly revived its base – the tourism sector – to receive visitors from all over the world if a negative PCR test was performed within 72 hours of departure. No quarantine required. Travelers must obtain a medical travel authorization and have travel insurance to cover COVID-19 benefits. Most of the tourist attractions, beaches, educational trails, cultural attractions such as the Botanic Gardens, Mission Lodge, and Victoria Market are all accessible to tourists, albeit with new protocols and uptime. 2. Maldives

3. Mexico
Mexico’s tourism-friendly policy has multiplied in popularity as a travel destination in recent times. The country welcomes travelers from all countries without mandatory testing and quarantine requirements. However, on arrival, they will undergo a health screening and individuals with symptoms of COVID-19 may be asked to be tested/quarantined. All passengers must complete an online “Cuestionario de Identificación de Factores de Riesgo en Viajeros” form and present it upon arrival. As of May 25, no state is in the red zone. Although Cancun and Tulum are located in the orange zone, most other destinations are in the green zone, which means that the tourism sector will operate as usual.

Please note that the land borders between Mexico and the United States, Belize, and Guatemala remain closed. Entry is only possible by air.
4. Costa Rica
Blessed with the backyard Caribbean on one side and the Pacific Ocean on the other, it is a paradise for backpackers in Costa Rica. The country is now open to tourists worldwide without testing and quarantine regulations. However, they must obtain travel insurance that can cover up to $ 2,000 in quarantine, as well as at least $ 50,000 in medical expenses due to a COVID-19 contract, and complete a Medical Card online. 5. Albania

6. Belize

The country has lifted mandatory quarantine (unless the result of random screening at the airport is positive). Fully vaccinated passengers are even exempted from performing the RT-PCR test 96 hours before boarding. All arrivals and non-residents must download the Belize Health mobile app and complete their information before traveling. Visitors must stay in Gold Standard hotels. We also recommend the Tourism Safe Corridor, which includes Gold Standard certified restaurants, tour operators, tourist sites and attractions, and gift shops. There are no restrictions on movement.
7. Liberia
The West African nation, which boasts less than 10 cases a day, is open to travelers from ECOWAS, but also from the rest of the world. Passengers must carry a medical certificate with a negative coronavirus PCR test issued no later than 7 days before departure or be tested at their own expense on arrival. 8. Egypt
The wait for those who want to discover the mystical pyramids of Giza is over. Egypt now allows international passengers without quarantine. As a precaution, everyone should take the pre-departure test within 72-96 hours after boarding, depending on the origin. Travelers from extremely high-risk countries must take a second test on arrival, but even quarantine is not expected of them. The government has opened museums, temples and archeological sites to tourists to see Egypt’s most famous sights.

9. Macedonia
Northern Macedonia is steeped in history by easing the rules for international arrivals. Entry is possible for anyone from anywhere in the globe, but travelers from India, Brazil and the African continent will have to isolate themselves for two weeks. There is no quarantine requirement for travelers from other countries. A coronavirus test is also not required, but a health screening is being held at the airport. Macedonia’s tourist attractions are functional. Restaurants, cafes, bars and other catering facilities are also open but limited to outdoor seating. Public transport continues unchanged.
10. Dominican Republic
The other gem of the Caribbean, the Dominican Republic, continued its international journey from all countries. It is mandatory to present a negative PCR test certificate performed within the previous 72 hours prior to travel. Arrivals (excluding the UK) can continue their travel plans without being quarantined. Passengers must have an “electronic ticket” and generate a QR code, which must be presented upon arrival. Its pristine beaches, the pride of the country, are open to everyone, making the Dominican Republic one of the best destinations for a sunbathing holiday.
